Long Term Strategies (LTSs)In November 2021, Nigeria submitted its Long-Term Emission Development Strategy to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change( UNFCC). This document outlines Nigeria`s pathway to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060
National Adaptation Plans (NAPs)Through the National Adaptation Strategy and Plan of Action for Climate Change in Nigeria (NASPA CCN) (2015) and the NAP Framework (2020), Nigeria has developed the right policies, strategies, and action plans to achieve its adaptation priorities. Adaptation issues are addressed using a sectoral approach. The key sectors given prominence include energy, agriculture, water resources, forestry and wildlife, education, health, security, and transportation.
Adaptation Communications (AdComs)Nigeria, as a Party to the Paris Agreement (having signed the agreement on September 22, 2016, and ratified it on May 16, 2017), submitted its first adaptation communication (ADCOM) in line with Article 7, paragraphs 10 and 11 of the agreement. This is also in accordance with decision 9/CMA.1 of the UNFCCC, which gives further guidance in relation to adaptation communications
